Smoke Tree Extract is a flavonoid, and therefore a polyphenol, it is synthesised by the phenylpropanoid pathway in which phenylalanine, an amino acid, is first converted into 4-coumaroyl-CoA and then into the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway. The first enzyme in this pathway, Chalcone synthase, converts 4-coumaroyl-CoA into chalcone, and all flavonoids are made with a chalcone backbone, and these compounds made with a chalcone backbone are collectively known as chalcone analogues. Various enzymes, including isomerases and hydroxylases, have different effects on chalcones depending on the subset of products, and transferases regulate the solubility of flavonoids by catalyzing the addition of methyl groups or sugars, which allows the plant body to control random changes in physiological activity.

Product Function of Smoke Tree Extract
Smoke Tree Extract was found to be an effective anti-aging drug in wild-type mice, increasing lifespan, reducing tissue markers of ageing and slowing down ageing-related diseases; studies on cultured tissues of human umbilical vein endothelial cells, which produce ageing, showed that it promotes apoptosis by inhibiting the activity of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-xL. It has been shown to promote apoptosis by inhibiting the activity of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-xL. The potential of laccasein as an anti-aging agent is approximately twice that of quercetin.

Laboratory studies on cultured cells have shown that Smoke Tree Extract inhibits several cytokines that promote inflammation, including tumour necrosis factor-alpha, Interleukin 6 and NF-κB, among others.
