Pharmacological action of Herbal Extract Powder
Glucose Uptake
Kaempferol, potentially through the metabolite kaempferol-3-neohesperidin, possibly increases glucose uptake by myocytes through processes mediated by the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and protein kinase C (PKC) pathways, and is suspected to be as effective as insulin in this regard.
Osteoblasts
Similar to myricetin, Kaempferol prevents against oxidation in in vitro bone cells and may exert anti-osteoporotic effects.
Adipogenesis
The inhibitory activity of kaempferol on fatty acid synthase (FASN) is achieved by acting as an inhibitor of the FASN cascade, which uses two substrates malonyl-CoA and acetyl-Coa together with NAPDH to ultimately produce palmitic acid.
Kaempferol (as well as quercetin) inhibits the activation of PPARγ lipogenesis by rosiglitazone and other endogenous ligands because of its high affinity for the receptor but low potency to activate it.
Kaempferol has long been known to reduce adipocyte formation, possibly by making its stem cells (bone marrow cells) favour osteogenesis (bone formation) over adipocyte formation.
