Product Description

Product Information of Herbal Extract Powder

Berberine, also known as Huanglianin, is a quaternary ammonium alkaloid isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine Huanglian, and is the main active ingredient in the antibacterial activity of Huanglian. It is a yellow needle-like crystal with a bitter taste. It is widely distributed in the plant kingdom and is found in about four families and ten genera. it was first obtained from the bark of Xanthoxylonclava by M.-E. Chavalier and G. Pertin in 1826.

Berberine has antibacterial effects against Streptococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus aureus, gonococcus and Fever and Shigella dysentery bacilli, and has enhanced phagocytosis of white blood cells. It also inhibits Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Plague bacilli to varying degrees, and has an inhibitory effect on Amoeba in rats. Berberine has anti-arotoxic effects in animals and has terminal hypotensive and antipyretic effects. The hydrochloride of berberine (commonly known as huanglianin hydrochloride) has been widely used in the treatment of gastroenteritis and bacterial dysentery, and is also effective against tuberculosis, scarlet fever, acute tonsillitis and respiratory tract infections. Chinese medicine commonly uses Huang Lian, Huang Bai, three needles and ten gong Lao as drugs to clear heat and detoxify the body, of which the main active ingredient is berberine.

Poorly absorbed orally. Rapidly enters organs and tissues after injection and blood levels are maintained shortly. The majority of the drug is metabolised and cleared in the body, with less than 5% of the administered dose being excreted in its original form within 48 hours. Recently, it has been reported that it can reduce the number of hairs on the surface of the bacterium, so that the bacterium cannot attach to the human cells and play a therapeutic role. The product also has an effect on Helicobacter and can reduce gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers.
