Sulforaphane, which is abundant in cruciferous plants such as broccoli, kale and northern carrots, is a common antioxidant and the most potent and effective active ingredient among natural anti-cancer substances. It is a multifunctional inducer that induces the production of type II detoxifying enzymes, glutathione transferase and quinone reductase, which are resistant to many carcinogens and prevent carcinogens from destroying genetic factors in healthy cells, thus acting as an anti-cancer agent.
The Discovery of Broccoli Sprout Extract Sulforaphane
In 1992, Talalay's laboratory announced the discovery of a super-powerful substance that induces phase2 enzymes, called Sulforaphane, a chemical extracted from cauliflower that has anti-cancer properties. He then carried out research on Sulforaphane, using rats exposed to the carcinogenic substance as subjects. The results were truly astonishing. The number of rats that had breast tumours was reduced by 60% in the rats that received Sulforaphane.
